Harrison Win Praise from Clients Following Acquisition

Twelve months on from our acquisition by Wakefield-based Orion Developments Ltd, Harrison have enjoyed a highly successful year of growth with a wide range of completed projects worth a combined contractual value of over £5.3 million. We have also secured ongoing and future contracts worth a total of £1.7 million.

Completed work includes two new build projects in Scunthorpe: a 24,000 square foot factory and office complex for engineering material stockholders, Locate Supplies Ltd, a 100,000 square foot office, warehouse, storage and distribution centre for ambient products and chilled food suppliers, FJG Property LLP. Harrison also designed and constructed two agricultural projects including a 24,000 square foot building near Grimsby comprising a grain drying and storage unit complete with an indoor loading facility for Grainsby Farms Ltd and a 20,000 square foot complex comprising grain drying/storage and refrigerated potato storage facilities in Winteringham, near Scunthorpe, for A F Dowsons & Son. We also completely refurbished retail premises in Epworth, near Doncaster, for MIMOSA and built a storage yard and road with associated drainage for the Broomfleet Premises of Sandtoft Roof Tiles Ltd.

The developments received very positive comments from the clients involved:

"The first digger arrived on site in October 2007 and we moved into the completed premises on the 1st of June 2008, with everything finished and ready right on time. Harrison found the land and produced a series of drawings for a contemporary design. They were fantastic all through the process, right up to completion – nothing was too much trouble and all the staff, from site workers to technical support, were friendly and helpful. The finish and build quality are extremely high and the energy-efficiency is as good as it gets – on the official rating scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the highest, their standard was even better than 1. I would not hesitate to use them again for any future build projects."
- Darryl Pidd, Operations Director of Locate Supplies

"In the past Harrison have completed a number of Grainsby Farms Ltd build projects to an excellent standard. We therefore had confidence in their ability and technical expertise to deliver a design solution that would provide the structural strength required for such a large bulk store.

Furthermore they operated quickly and safely within a tight schedule between the emptying and demolition of the old storage building in January 2008 and the arrival of the new harvest in July. Despite a pressured situation they delivered their usual high quality with the friendly and approachable support which we have come to expect."
- Richard Haigh, Director at Grainsby Farms Ltd

"We appreciated having regular direct contact with several senior company figures, all of whom offer outstanding expertise and experience. Harrison managed to work within tight schedules without compromising standards."
- John Dinsdale, Sandtoft Roof Tiles

"We are impressed with the workmanship and service provided by Harrison. The company offers a reliable build quality and a reliable quality of finish, and they achieved these standards within a tight schedule in time for harvest."
- Ian Dowson, Owner of AF Dowsons & Son

"Harrisons performed a complete refurbishment of MIMOSA’s premises and did a fantastic job. They also extended the neighbouring property in double-quick time. Their level of workmanship and attention to detail impressed me most."
- Janet Oldridge, Co Owner of MIMOSA

Delighted by client satisfaction

"We are delighted with the client satisfaction achieved by the various post-acquisition developments which we have completed," said Harrison Director, Jim Harrison. "I’m pleased to hear them praise us for qualities which have been key reasons behind Harrison’s success over many decades – whilst the acquisition has improved the company’s capacity to take on larger projects, we have stayed true to the quality-led philosophy which has always been integral to our approach."

Harrison’s ongoing contracts include a 23,500 square foot factory and office premises in Brigg, North Lincolnshire, for coffee roaster and packaging suppliers, Lincoln & York Ltd; a 20,000 square foot factory with laboratory and staff welfare facilities near Selby for Gel Systems Ltd, a global supplier and developer of gelling agents and stabilizers; and a concrete apron and loading dock at the new Scunthorpe premises of specialist tyre wholesalers, R.H.Claydon Ltd.
